# Letting Behavly Write, Or Sending Your Own Copy

> The two modes in the Design step, and what each one changes downstream.

The Design step has two modes, and the choice changes the rest of the flow.

#### Behavly Writes It

Behavly generates the body **per recipient**, informed by what that person actually did on your site. The Language step stays in the flow, and the Adaptive scheduling option becomes visible.

##### What Each Email Is Written From

Every recipient belongs to one of four groups, and each group's email is written from different information:

| Recipient | Their activity | The campaign's group | Their company's website | Your Brand info |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Contact, private** | Yes, when there is any | Yes | No | Yes |
| **Contact, business** | Yes, when there is any | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| **Lead, private** | No | Only the email's place in a sequence | No | Yes: the email introduces your product and its features |
| **Lead, business** | No | Only the email's place in a sequence | Yes | Yes |

**Your Brand info** is what you saved on **Brand** (company name, description, tagline, industry) plus what Behavly reads from the website you set there. It is the only ground an email stands on for anything it says about your product.

**Private or business** is decided the same way for contacts and leads. A recipient is a business when their address is at a company (**anna@northwind.com**), you sell to businesses, and their company's website can be read. Everyone else is private: personal addresses such as Gmail or Yahoo, people who signed up to a product for private people with their work address, a private person's own website, and companies whose website can't be read. Who you sell to is read from your Brand website and can be overridden in **Settings → Account & Settings → AI & Privacy**.

For a business contact, the campaign's group and their activity still decide what the email is about; their company only lets the payoff be said in their business's terms, in one sentence.

Each website is read **once**. What Behavly learns is stored for your workspace and reused by every later email: each step of an Agent path, every Adaptive follow-up, every colleague at the same company and every later campaign. It is read again after six months.

#### Send My Copy As-Is

You write the email once and it goes out unchanged. The Language step is skipped — the words are already fixed, so a language choice could not be applied to them.

#### Plain Text Or A Template

Campaigns send plain text by default. To send a designed HTML email instead, choose **Use a template** in the Design step and pick one of your published templates. Templates are built and managed in **Templates**.

#### If AI Is Switched Off

A workspace that has turned AI off in **Settings → Account & Settings → AI & Privacy** is put into as-is mode automatically, and cannot choose the generated mode.
