A Pattern Campaign starts from a group. You choose it on the first step of the path, Who enters: with Choose who enters when the campaign opens, or later with Change on that step.
All Users
Everyone identified by the Behavly snippet on your tracked site, except people who unsubscribed, bounced or are suppressed.
A Detected Pattern
Behavly reads your tracked behaviour and offers patterns it found: groups of people who did something in common. The step spells out the rule behind each one under The rule, because a name like *Barely explored* is a label, not a definition.
Ask For A Pattern
Under Looking for another pattern?, describe the group you want in plain language and Behavly turns it into a rule. The description is matched against a closed vocabulary of behavioural rules. It does not write a database query, and it cannot invent a rule Behavly does not support.
You are shown the resulting group and its size before anything is saved. That preview is the point: it is where you catch a description that was read differently than you meant it. Add this pattern saves it and uses it like any other.
Form Leads
People who arrived through one of your forms rather than by signing in, or who were added to your leads. They are their own group, and they are excluded from All users: a lead is not yet a user, and mixing the two makes both groups wrong. Emails Behavly writes to them introduce your product, and for a business lead also draw on their company's website. See Contacts vs Leads.
Specific People
Add recipients lets you type or paste addresses, pick people from your database, or import a CSV. Everyone you picked gets the path when the campaign starts, and then it stops by itself: a list you picked always runs once. Anyone you add later enters when you publish the change.
How The Group Is Read

- Behavly re-checks who is in the group every 10 minutes, and each person enters once, the moment they join. With Also the people in it now on, the people already in the group enter when it starts.
Someone who stops matching the group is not taken off the path. Use Leave when for anything that should end it.
Saved Patterns Re-Evaluate
A saved pattern is stored as a rule, not as a list of members. Every time it is used it runs again against current data. An Always-on campaign for *people who stalled in onboarding* takes in the people who stall this week, not only the ones who had stalled when you made it.
