Behavly vs Loops
Loops is an affordable email platform where your team writes the emails. Behavly tracks signed-in users and writes each follow-up per person. How to choose.
Updated October 10, 2026 · Competitor details checked October 10, 2026 on each vendor’s own site
Loops is a simple, affordable email platform for SaaS. Your team writes the newsletters, transactional email and event-triggered loops. Loops sends them from its own infrastructure, for a flat price per subscribed contact.
Behavly is an AI agent that tracks what each signed-in user does in your product. It writes every follow-up for that one person from their activity, and sends it from your own mailbox. Behavly is our product, so this page says plainly where Loops is the better choice.

How each one works
Loops
Loops puts marketing email, product email and transactional email in one tool. Its automated workflows, called loops, start when a contact is added or updated, or joins a list. They also start when an event arrives from your code or an integration such as Segment, RudderStack or PostHog. From there, people move through emails, timers, audience filters, branches and experiments.
Your team writes each email in the editor, or an AI agent writes it through the MCP server, CLI or LMX markup. Everything sends from Loops’ infrastructure on your domain, and transactional email goes through its API or SMTP.
Behavly
Behavly starts from what people do, not from events you send. Its script tag picks up each signed-in person’s page views, clicks, scrolling and pointer movement, with one profile per person across laptop and phone. No identify call is needed, and product actions such as project_created can be added later with behavly.track.
Here is one follow-up from start to finish. A new user signs up and stalls halfway through setup. Behavly may already show them in a pattern of people who got stuck. If not, you describe the group in plain words and see who’s in it before saving.
That group becomes who enters a Behavly Agent. The Agent keeps running and enrolls each person the moment they qualify. Their path might wait two days, then branch on whether they logged in again.
If they didn’t, Behavly writes the next email from what that person did in your product, and it goes from your own mailbox. When they reply, the reply lands in the Inbox with their activity attached, and by default it takes them off the path.
A one-time campaign skips the path: it writes to a group once.
Choose Loops if…
- Price per contact matters most. $49/month covers 5,000 contacts and $99/month covers 10,000, with no seat fees. Behavly costs more at every size.
- You also send product announcements. Loops sends them from its own infrastructure, next to newsletters and transactional email. Behavly has no transactional email and isn’t built for large broadcasts.
- You’d rather an AI agent wrote the copy in code, through Loops’ MCP server, CLI or agent skills.
- You already send events from your backend, Segment, RudderStack or PostHog, and want a clean, simple workflow builder on top of them.
- You rely on integrations such as Stripe, Zapier, Make, Supabase, Clerk or HubSpot.
- You want a free plan that reaches 1,000 contacts.
Choose Behavly if…
- You’d rather not write one template per segment. Behavly writes a separate email for each person from their own activity.
- You haven’t instrumented events yet. One script tag records what each signed-in user does, merged across devices, with no identify call.
- You want help with replies. Behavly drafts an answer from the thread and the sender’s activity, for you to edit and send.
- You’d rather describe a path than build it. Say what you want in words and Behavly lays out the emails, waits and branches for you to check.
- You want heatmaps for one person, not only for everyone on your site.
- Your users speak many languages. Behavly writes in 80.
Price at the same audience size
| Audience | Loops | Behavly |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 contacts | Free: sends to your 1,000 newest contacts, up to 4,000 sends per rolling 30 days, with a “Powered by Loops” footer | $79/month (Starter); Free covers 100 tracked contacts |
| 2,500 contacts | $49/month (5,000-contact tier) | $79/month (Starter: 2,500 tracked contacts, 2,000 AI emails, 1 Agent) |
| 5,000 contacts | $49/month | $249/month (Growth: 10,000 tracked contacts, 8,000 AI emails, 5 Agents) |
| 10,000 contacts | $99/month | $249/month (Growth) |
The two prices buy different things. Loops’ covers unlimited sends, transactional email and any number of seats, and you supply the copy.
Behavly’s covers tracking, heatmaps, always-on Agents and per-person AI writing up to the plan’s monthly allowance. It includes 3 seats on Starter or 10 on Growth. Templates sent as designed don’t use the AI allowance. Because Behavly sends through your own mailbox, it suits one-to-one follow-ups rather than bulk sends.
Above 10,000, Loops is $199/month for 25,000 contacts, and Behavly’s Scale plan covers 40,000 tracked contacts for $699/month, sold through a conversation. Loops’ pricing page shows no annual-billing discount. Its paid tiers there start at 5,000 contacts, so a 2,500-contact list pays the 5,000-contact price.
Using both
Running both makes sense if you want what each does best. One sensible split gives Loops the newsletters, product announcements and transactional email such as receipts and password resets, at its low per-contact price.
Behavly takes the follow-ups that should read like a note from a person. Think of an onboarding nudge, a trial check-in or a question to someone who went quiet. Each is written from that user’s activity and sent from a founder’s or account manager’s mailbox.
- Give each tool its own job, so nobody gets a newsletter and a follow-up about the same thing on the same day.
- Keep unsubscribes in step. The two don’t sync, so someone who opts out in one should be removed from the other.
- Expect to pay for overlap. Each tool bills on its own contact count, so people in both count twice.
If you move from Loops to Behavly
- 1Add the snippet to your signed-in app in User Activity → Setup, so there’s behavior to write from. Contacts you import appear right away, but have no activity until they visit.
- 2Import your contacts from a CSV in Contacts. Leads count toward your plan’s contact limit too, so check the size of the file against your plan first.
- 3Connect a mailbox in Settings → Email over IMAP/SMTP. For Gmail and Outlook that generally means creating an app password.
- 4Keep transactional email where it is. Behavly doesn’t send password resets or receipts, so those stay with Loops or another sending provider.
Questions
- Is Behavly cheaper than Loops?
- No. Loops is $49/month for 5,000 contacts and $99/month for 10,000, with unlimited sends. Behavly is $79/month for 2,500 tracked contacts and $249/month for 10,000, because tracking, heatmaps and per-person AI writing are included. Both have a free plan.
- Can Behavly replace Loops for transactional email?
- No. Behavly has no transactional email, so password resets, receipts and invitations should stay with Loops or another sending provider. Behavly is for follow-ups based on what each user did in your product.
- Does Loops write emails with AI?
- Loops documents no built-in AI writer. It supports external AI agents through an MCP server, a CLI, agent skills for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, and LMX markup. An agent can then write email content in code. Behavly writes each email itself, for one person, from their activity.
- Can I use Loops and Behavly together?
- Yes. One sensible split is Loops for newsletters and transactional email, and Behavly for follow-ups written from each user’s activity and sent from your own mailbox. The two don’t sync, so keep unsubscribes in step between them.
- Do I need to send events to use Behavly?
- No. The script tag records page views, clicks, pointer movement and scroll depth for each signed-in user without an identify call. You can add product actions with
behavly.trackwhen you want a path to branch on them.
